Challenge – Week 7

Hello again everyone.  Can you believe it, 49 days have passed since we started this Keto journey.  And let me say – It has been the best change health wise that I could have ever done with my lifestyle.

I am extremely excited to see just how low we can go, while still feeling like I haven’t deprived myself when it comes to eating.

This week was a weird week when it comes to my meal plan.  Mostly due to the fact that we actually ate out not once but twice.  On Saturday we had a Thickburger w/ guacamole, bacon, onion, and tomato (we skipped the sauce) all wrapped in lettuce; from Carl’s Jr..  I added my own No Sugar Added Ketchup when we got the meal home.  Sure, it was a departure from our scratch cooking and perfectly measured ingredients/portions.  But it sure as hell tasted good.

Then on Tuesday we went out to the Outback for our anniversary (19 yrs).  I had a 9 oz Sirloin Steak with some Shrimp on the Barbie.  The whole thing was slathered in Garlic Butter Sauce.  We also had a Caesar Salad to round out our meal (yes we took the dressing as is).

The best part about the choices I made while eating out – I never came out of Ketosis.  Which made me feel really good about the ability to take my wife out to dinner.

We are currently sticking with the Keto Proof Coffee to start out our day.  Depending on what we end up having for dinner, sometimes we have two portions of the coffee.

This week we are going to make a variety of desserts to have a little later in the evening as needed to maintain our macros.

And speaking of macros.  Some of the meals I have put together were out of balance, so I supplemented either the protein or the fat with two things.  First was some peanut butter and dark chocolate fudge.  Second was some Slim Fast Protein drinks.

These two items allowed me to get extra fat and protein to ensure those macros were in the right percentages.  And they provided a bit of variety and convenience while doing so.

All in all, not a bad week.  The Muscle Milk protein shakes were not very appealing to me.  They tasted a bit “chalky” and reminded me of Pepto.  So we won’t be using those again.

We did enjoy the Slim Fast Shakes, but will stick with the Strawberries and Cream as our go to for fast and easy macro balancing.

This week there will be more deli meats and cheese to help round out the macros.  And we won’t be using as many Slim Fast drinks.

Sunday, 2 Sept:

Breakfast:  Cheesy Eggs w/ Spinach

Dinner:  Keto Sticky Mustard Ribs w/ Spinach Salad

Dessert:  Pro Series Knockout Protein Chocolate Shake from Muscle Milk (again – yuck).

Monday, 3 Sept:

Breakfast:  High Protein Strawberries and Cream Shake by Slim Fast

Dinner:  Leftover Ribs and another Spinach Salad

Tuesday, 4 Sept:

Breakfast:  High Protein Strawberries and Cream Shake by Slim Fast

Snack:  Creamy Chocolate High Protein Shake by Slim Fast

Dinner:  The a fore mentioned Outback dinner

Dessert:  Creamy Chocolate High Protein Shake by Slim Fast

Wednesday, 5 Sept:

Breakfast:  Scrambled Eggs w/ Cheese and a Keto Proof Coffee

Dinner:  Prosciutto and Cheddar Quesadilla w/ Low Card Tortillas (only 5 g carbs per tortilla x 2) w/ a Spinach Salad

Dessert:  Creamy Chocolate High Protein Shake by Slim Fast

Thursday, 6 Sept:

Breakfast:  Two servings of Keto Proof Coffee

Dinner:  Leftover Keto Sticky Mustard Ribs w/ Spinach Salad

Dessert:  High Protein Strawberries and Cream Shake by Slim Fast

Friday, 7 Sept:

Breakfast:  Keto Proof Coffee

Dinner:  Leftover Chicken Enchilada Soup

Dessert:  High Protein Strawberries and Cream Shake by Slim Fast

Snack:  High Protein Strawberries and Cream Shake by Slim Fast
